Noticing the Little Things

Diamond Fork, Utah

This has got to be the ugliest time of year, if not in the whole northern hemisphere, at least in Utah. My strategy is to notice the little things - kind of like a gratitude journal for the state.

So thank you dogwoods for being red, even in the dead of winter.

Thank you seed pods and leaves. You probably should have fallen off a long time ago, but I'm glad you didn't.

Pelicans on the Bear River

Thank you pelicans, for checking us out on the way to whatever exotic place you are headed for.

Lone Pine in Mapleton Canyon

And thank you pine tree for being willing to be a loner. You keep our eyes off our feet and on the horizon.
